Baggage Handler Reveals Why You Should Never Tie a Ribbon on Your Luggage

1 Min Read

A baggage handler at Dublin Airport has shared why travelers should avoid tying ribbons to their luggage. While ribbons help identify bags, they can get stuck in conveyor belts and interfere with the airport’s scanning equipment, leading to delays or even missed flights.

Similarly, old travel stickers may confuse scanners, making it harder to process your luggage smoothly. Instead, opt for brightly colored luggage or bold patterns to easily spot your bags without causing issues.

The handler also advised against packing marzipan, as its density is similar to that of explosives, which could trigger additional security checks. Lastly, for better luggage handling, place bags on the conveyor wheels-side up to avoid damage during loading.
